Ahmedabad Faces Red Alert as IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall Until August 2

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared a Red Alert for various districts in Gujarat, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall from July 30 through August 2. The IMD's predictions indicate that while light to moderate rainfall will occur across many regions of Gujarat until August 5, the specified period is expected to bring heavy to exceptionally heavy rainfall in numerous areas. A.K. Das, the Director of IMD Gujarat, highlighted that multiple weather systems are currently active, which significantly raises the chances of widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds throughout the state over the upcoming week.

The Red Alert specifically warns of exceptionally heavy rainfall in the Narmada district on July 31, while Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli are also under threat of extremely heavy rainfall. In the Saurashtra region, Bhavnagar and Botad have been placed under a Red Alert, while Surendranagar, Rajkot, and Amreli are under an Orange Alert due to the expectation of very heavy rainfall. For August 1, Ahmedabad and Anand will continue to be under a Red Alert as the forecast indicates extremely heavy rainfall, with additional warnings for very heavy rainfall across Patan, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Bharuch, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Botad, and Kutch.
