Vedanta Ltd has announced impressive financial results for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, showcasing a remarkable year-on-year increase in net profit. The company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 5,473 crore, marking a significant rise of 71.8% from Rs 3,185 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. This growth is attributed primarily to the robust performance of its continuing operations, although the company has noted that comparisons with discontinued businesses may not be entirely accurate due to the recent demerger of four of its business verticals. The revenue generated from continuing operations saw a substantial increase of 53.6%, reaching Rs 24,205 crore compared to Rs 15,754 crore in the previous year. However, when considering discontinued operations and inter-segment adjustments, total revenue from operations experienced a decline of 11.4%, falling to Rs 33,515 crore from Rs 37,824 crore.
The continuing operations of Vedanta have emerged as a vital driver of growth during this quarter. The earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) from these operations skyrocketed by 98.5% to Rs 8,469 crore, nearly doubling from the Rs 4,267 crore recorded in the same period last year. The EBITDA margin also showed significant improvement, rising to 36% from 27.4%, reflecting an increase of approximately 855 basis points. Operating costs, on the other hand, increased at a slower rate than revenue, with total expenses from continuing operations rising by 33% to Rs 17,558 crore. Consequently, profit before tax surged by 145.1% to ₹7,189 crore, while net profit after tax from continuing operations soared by 151.9% to Rs 5,294 crore. When including both continuing and discontinued operations, the consolidated profit after tax reached Rs 7,918 crore, with Rs 5,473 crore attributable to Vedanta's shareholders, resulting in a basic earnings per share increase to Rs 14.02 from Rs 8.15 a year earlier.
