Johar, who began his illustrious career as an assistant director on the iconic film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) in 1995, reflected on the pivotal role these two industry giants played in his professional journey. In a heartfelt post shared on his Instagram, he recounted significant conversations that shaped his career, emphasizing the invaluable guidance he received from both Khan and Chopra.

In his tribute, Karan Johar shared a nostalgic collage of throwback images, reminiscing about a life-altering phone call he received from Aditya Chopra at 1 AM. At that time, Johar was preparing to leave for further studies, but Chopra's request for him to assist on DDLJ prompted a moment of hesitation. However, Chopra's persuasive words resonated deeply with Johar, who described himself as melodramatic and uncertain about his future. He recalled how Chopra told him that not pursuing this opportunity would be a grave mistake. This conversation kept Johar awake that night, leading him to approach his father the next morning with an emotional plea for a year to dedicate to filmmaking. His father, initially skeptical, asked if he would know what to do on set, to which Johar candidly admitted he had no idea. Yet, his father encouraged him to promise hard work, emphasizing that passion was the key to becoming a director.
