Suneel Darshan Reflects on Karisma Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan's Breakup

Filmmaker Suneel Darshan recently shared insights into one of Bollywood's most notable breakups, specifically the end of the engagement between Karisma Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan. In an interview with Hindi Rush, Darshan recounted being present at Kapoor's residence when the couple's engagement was called off, a moment that left him perplexed about the rapid transition from their breakup to her subsequent marriage to industrialist Sunjay Kapur. He expressed his close association with Karisma during this tumultuous period, having collaborated with her on several films including Jaanwar, Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya, and Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love. Darshan noted that he witnessed the evolution of their relationship over time, highlighting that by the time they were working on Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya, the couple had already made plans to tie the knot. He described them as an appealing pair, being the son of Amitabh Bachchan and the granddaughter of Raj Kapoor, and pointed out the irony that the only film they were meant to star in together was Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya.

Reflecting on the day the engagement was called off, Darshan revealed that he was at Karisma's home when the news broke. He expressed his sorrow over the cancellation of the wedding, stating that it was unfortunate and that the emotional fallout was difficult to fully comprehend. Following the engagement's end, he mentioned that Karisma traveled to Bangkok to celebrate the New Year, and shortly thereafter, he learned about her plans to marry Sunjay Kapur. This sudden shift in her life left him questioning the rationale behind her decision. Despite the ongoing speculation regarding the reasons for the breakup between Kapoor and Bachchan, Darshan emphasized that assigning blame is unproductive. He remarked on the complexities of relationships, asserting that outsiders cannot truly grasp the dynamics between two individuals. He noted that while people tend to point fingers at family members like Babita and Jaya, the reality is that such matters are often left to fate. He acknowledged the passionate nature of their relationship, suggesting that love can manifest in various ways for different couples, and that every relationship has its unique challenges and disagreements.
