Heavy Rainfall Expected in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Amid Weather Concerns

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for significant rainfall across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, predicting that numerous districts will experience heavy to extremely heavy showers over the next 24 hours. According to the latest updates from the IMD’s Meteorological Centres located in Amaravati and Hyderabad, while the intensity of rainfall is anticipated to diminish after July 31, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are expected to persist in various regions until August 5. This forecast comes in light of a developing weather system over the Bay of Bengal, which has raised alarms regarding potential heavy rainfall in the two states.

Despite rampant speculation on social media regarding the formation of a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal, the IMD has not confirmed any such development. The current heavy rainfall is attributed to a low-pressure system forming over the northern part of the Bay of Bengal. Such weather phenomena are typical during the southwest monsoon season, often resulting in widespread precipitation, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across eastern and southern India. The IMD is closely observing the situation to determine if this system will escalate into a depression or possibly a cyclonic storm, depending on the atmospheric conditions in the coming days.
