Assam Veterans Donate Rs 25 Lakh for Flood Relief Efforts

In a commendable act of support for families affected by flooding, the Directorate of Sainik Welfare in Assam has made a generous contribution of Rs 25 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. This donation aims to bolster ongoing relief and rehabilitation initiatives throughout the state, particularly focusing on the severely impacted regions in Upper Assam. The cheque was formally handed over to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma by Brigadier Polash Chowdhury, SM (Retd), who serves as the Director of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare. He was accompanied by notable figures from the veterans' community, including Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd), and Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd). This timely contribution comes as various districts in Assam continue to grapple with the consequences of intense flooding, with relief efforts actively being conducted to assist those in need.

During the cheque presentation ceremony, Brigadier Polash Chowdhury emphasized that this donation is a testament to the veterans' unwavering commitment to their fellow citizens during challenging times. He expressed optimism that the Chief Minister's Relief Fund would effectively channel the support to those who require it the most. Furthermore, he acknowledged the significant involvement of numerous ex-servicemen from Assam, who have voluntarily engaged in relief operations, collaborating closely with the civil administration to provide aid to flood victims.
