Delhi-NCR Faces Heavy Rainfall; Orange Alert Issued for More Showers Ahead

Delhi-NCR experienced significant rainfall on Tuesday, providing a welcome break from the oppressive humidity that had been affecting the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) responded to the weather conditions by issuing an orange alert for various areas, indicating that residents should prepare for additional rain and strong winds in the coming hours. This weather event has been a relief for many, as the rain has helped to alleviate the discomfort caused by the high temperatures and humidity levels that have persisted in recent days.

As reported by the IMD, the Safdarjung weather station, which serves as the primary observation point for Delhi, recorded a total of 32.4 mm of rain by 8:30 am. Other locations in the region also reported substantial rainfall, with Ridge measuring 37.6 mm, Lodhi Road at 36.7 mm, Ayanagar receiving 4 mm, and Palam recording 0.8 mm. The visuals captured from various parts of the city, including the prominent Kartavya Path, showcased dark clouds and consistent rainfall, as people navigated their way to work amidst the downpour. While the rain has brought some relief, officials have warned that the heavy showers could result in traffic disruptions and water accumulation in lower-lying areas, necessitating caution for those traveling.
