Elections in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir Marred by Allegations of Fraud

The first phase of elections in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) has sparked significant controversy following the emergence of videos that reportedly depict various forms of electoral misconduct, including ballot tampering and fraudulent voting practices. These videos, which have gained traction across social media platforms and among local political circles, seem to illustrate election officials and polling staff engaging in the mass stamping of ballots. In one particular clip, a man identified as a polling officer is seen managing several ballot papers discreetly, away from the scrutiny of voters. Another video allegedly captures a college principal, who was serving as a polling official, participating in the ballot-stamping activities, raising further concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.

Reports from local sources indicate that numerous polling stations utilized counterfeit ballots during the initial phase of the PoK elections. It has been alleged that multiple individuals managed to cast more than one vote by using forged identity cards, which poses serious questions regarding the legitimacy of the electoral process. The situation has escalated into a political dispute, with leaders from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) accusing the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of orchestrating systematic rigging to sway the election results in their favor.
