Kangana Ranaut Defends 'Gutter' Comment, Critiques Influences on Gen Z

Kangana Ranaut, the prominent actress and political figure, has recently elaborated on her controversial statement referring to Generation Z as the 'gutter generation.' This remark follows a wave of student protests that emerged in response to the NEET exam paper leak, which has stirred significant public discourse. In a new video shared on her Instagram account on July 29, Ranaut stood firm by her previous comments, asserting that certain disruptive elements are attempting to sway the youth of India in a negative direction. She clarified that her criticism was not aimed at the entire Generation Z, but rather at what she termed the 'Feminazi' ideology that she believes is detrimental to societal values. In her video, she stated, 'I opposed the protestors who belong to the gutter, who were displaying immoral and unruly behaviour in front of kids, elders, and people on the streets. We don't want such elements to sexualize our children prematurely and make us ashamed in front of our elders. We cannot accept such actions in our society, and we will not allow them to become normalized. People are ganging up against me.'

Ranaut emphasized the importance of discipline among women and questioned whether parents would endorse such behavior for their daughters. She argued that maintaining discipline and adhering to societal norms is essential, stating, 'Your freedom ends where my senses start. You can live a fake life only inside your homes. Even if you don't have respect for me and my family, you cannot abuse or sexualize my people on the roads.' While she expressed support for the younger generation, startups, and students preparing for the NEET exams, her frustration was directed at those who disparage Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She urged the youth not to be misled into thinking that disrespecting the Prime Minister is a form of being 'cool.' Ranaut remarked, 'People call our PM Modi exam buddy, some call him leader, some call him a friend and family. Some even consider him God. So you cannot hurt the feelings of someone. This is not being cool; this is basic civic sense. If you don't know about it, you'll have to learn it.'
