Ahmedabad Gears Up for Unforgettable 2030 Commonwealth Games: Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi

Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi has announced that a dedicated Indian team is currently in Glasgow, actively engaged in training to master the complexities of organizing a major multi-sport event. This initiative is part of the preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Ahmedabad, marking a significant milestone as it will be the centenary edition of the Games. This event also signifies the return of the Commonwealth Games to India, following the last edition hosted in New Delhi back in 2010. Sanghavi, who oversees the sports portfolio for the state, emphasized that officials from various critical operational sectors are gaining invaluable insights and experiences from the ongoing scaled-down version of the Games taking place in Glasgow.

In a statement to reporters, Sanghavi expressed his gratitude towards the athletes and acknowledged the leadership of the Prime Minister in paving the way for Ahmedabad to host this prestigious event in 2030. He highlighted that the entire team currently in Glasgow is involved in extensive training, covering everything from back-office management to the intricate planning required for the successful delivery of the Games. The Deputy Chief Minister also mentioned that the delegation will participate in sports diplomacy sessions that are scheduled to continue until August 2, which will further enhance their understanding of how to effectively organize the Games in 2030. He noted that the delegation is also part of the Scotland-India Sports Summit, which aims to strengthen ties and share knowledge between the two nations in the realm of sports.
