The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is poised to endorse FIFA's ambitious Forward Enterprise initiative, a move that promises to enhance the financial support available to its member associations starting in 2027. Sources within the AIFF indicate that the board has already reviewed the proposal presented by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and has expressed its agreement. An insider, who has previously consulted for both the AIFF and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), revealed that FIFA is expected to receive overwhelming support from federations across Asia. This proposal, introduced by Infantino, requires approval from member associations by the deadline of September 19. Should it garner the backing of a majority of FIFA's 211 member associations and subsequently receive the green light from the FIFA Council, it will solidify a commercially driven initiative aimed at creating new revenue channels for global football while ensuring FIFA maintains majority control.
For the AIFF, endorsing this proposal could lead to a significant financial influx over the next decade. If the initiative is adopted, the AIFF stands to gain USD 20 million through the FIFA Forward Programme during the funding cycle from 2027 to 2030. Additionally, federations will have the opportunity to participate in the newly launched FIFA Fast-Forward programme, which could provide them with an extra USD 20 million. This means that the total funding available to AIFF could reach USD 40 million for the cycle beginning on January 1, 2027. FIFA has also indicated that funding levels are expected to rise in subsequent cycles, with projections of USD 22 million per federation for the 2031-2034 period and USD 24 million for 2035-2038 under the Forward programme. The new funding model, which has sparked debate, is part of FIFA's larger strategy to establish the FIFA Forward Enterprise, a dedicated commercial and events organization designed to generate additional revenue through strategic investments while allowing FIFA to retain at least 80 percent ownership.
