In a remarkable achievement, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has set a new benchmark in the world of cricket by becoming the first franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and globally to reach a brand value exceeding $300 million, approximately ₹2,871 crores. This milestone was revealed in a recent study by the investment bank Houlihan Lokey, which highlighted RCB's ascent from a previous valuation of $269 million (around ₹2,575 crores) to an impressive $312 million (approximately ₹2,987 crores). This surge in value is attributed to their triumphant defense of the IPL title in 2026, following their inaugural championship win in 2025 under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar. Additionally, RCB has made headlines by becoming the most expensive cricket team ever sold, with a staggering sale price of $1.78 billion (around ₹17,700 crores), facilitated by a consortium led by the Aditya Birla Group.
The latest valuation report indicates that RCB has successfully maintained its position as the highest-valued team in the IPL, alongside Mumbai Indians (MI), which also retained its status from the previous year. However, a significant shift occurred in the rankings as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) overtook Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to claim the third spot in brand value. CSK, which held the third position in the previous year's study, has seen its value decline, reflecting their struggles on the field. In contrast, Delhi Capitals (DC) experienced a drop in their ranking, falling from sixth to ninth place, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) improved their standing, moving up from ninth to seventh. Rajasthan Royals (RR) also made gains, climbing to sixth place after their recent sale valued at $1.65 billion (approximately ₹1,593 crores).
