Tamim Iqbal Optimistic About India's Upcoming Tour to Bangladesh in 2026

The president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Tamim Iqbal, has expressed his optimism regarding India's planned tour to Bangladesh in September 2026, which is set to feature three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 International matches. During a press conference held in Dhaka on Wednesday, July 29, the former opening batsman shared insights into ongoing discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about the series. He emphasized that the BCB is actively working to ensure that the tour proceeds as scheduled, highlighting the significance of this series for both nations.

Tamim Iqbal noted that while he currently lacks specific updates on the series, he remains in regular contact with BCCI officials. He mentioned that there has been a consistent exchange of emails between the two boards as they navigate the complexities of scheduling and international commitments. The original plan for India to visit Bangladesh in August 2025 was postponed last year, with both cricket boards mutually agreeing to shift the series to September 2026. This decision was made after careful consideration of the cricketing calendar and the logistical challenges faced by both teams.
