Salesforce has unveiled findings from its Agentic Workplace Study, highlighting India's remarkable position in the global landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) usage among desk workers. The survey, which employed a double-blind methodology, indicates that Indian employees are significantly more engaged with AI technologies in their daily tasks compared to their counterparts in other countries. Notably, the study reveals that Indian workers are 45 percent more likely than the global average to integrate AI into their core workflows, marking the highest adoption rate across all surveyed nations. This trend suggests that AI has transitioned from a phase of experimentation to becoming an integral part of the daily operations for a substantial portion of India's workforce.
However, the study also uncovers a concerning trend: India has the highest rate of unsuccessful AI pilots among the markets examined. A striking 38 percent of Indian respondents reported that their organizations faced challenges with AI initiatives in the past year, in stark contrast to the global average of 28 percent. The research identifies a lack of business context as the primary reason for these failures. Among those whose AI projects did not succeed, 34 percent indicated that the results lacked relevance to their business needs, compared to just 22 percent globally. Other significant factors contributing to the failure of AI pilots include the inability to tailor AI solutions to specific roles (31 percent), the generation of generic outputs (31 percent), insufficient training for users (29 percent), and the overwhelming number of different AI tools to manage (28 percent).
