Maruti Suzuki has officially commenced operations at the newly added fourth production line located within its expansive Hansalpur facility in Gujarat. This strategic move significantly enhances the plant's annual production capacity, allowing it to manufacture up to 10 lakh passenger vehicles each year. With this latest expansion, the Hansalpur site has now become the largest passenger vehicle manufacturing plant for Suzuki Motor Corporation globally, based on annual output. This development is particularly timely as Maruti Suzuki anticipates an increase in domestic demand, alongside a stronger focus on exports and a wider array of hybrid and electric vehicle offerings in the coming years.
The vehicles produced at the Hansalpur facility are not only sold within India but are also exported to numerous international markets, marking the plant as a vital hub for Maruti Suzuki's operations. Over time, Hansalpur has evolved into one of the company's key manufacturing sites, especially for models aimed at export. Achieving a production capacity that exceeds one million units annually is a notable milestone, as no other Suzuki passenger vehicle factory worldwide currently reaches this level of output. While the additional capacity may not immediately resolve the prolonged waiting periods for several of Maruti Suzuki's high-demand models, it does provide the company with greater flexibility to manage production across its diverse portfolio.
