Supreme Court Rejects Petition on NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Answers

The Supreme Court of India has officially dismissed a petition that sought to challenge six answers in the final answer key of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination. This decision comes as a significant ruling regarding the results announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which will remain unchanged following the court's refusal to intervene. The petition, filed by a candidate named Gayatri Arun, argued that the answers to six questions from the re-exam held on June 21 were inconsistent with the content found in NCERT textbooks, leading to claims of unfair evaluation for the candidates involved. The Supreme Court's bench, comprising Justices P.S. Narasimha and Alok Aradhe, found no merit in the arguments presented and consequently dismissed the writ petition.

In the petition, the applicant sought not only a correction of what were deemed incorrect answers but also requested the publication of a revised merit list reflecting the changes. The issues raised pertained to questions from various subjects including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, where the petitioner claimed that the answers provided had multiple correct options or did not align with the NCERT syllabus. During the proceedings, the Supreme Court made it clear that it would not entertain the challenge to the examination results, thereby upholding the integrity of the evaluation process as conducted by the NTA. As a result of this ruling, the results from the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, which were announced on July 16, will remain as they are without any revisions.
