Over 30 Students Fall Ill After Breakfast at Karnataka School

In a concerning incident at the Morarji Desai Residential School located in Karajgi village, more than 30 students experienced health issues after having breakfast on Thursday. The students were promptly given first aid at a nearby medical facility before being transferred to Afzalpur Taluk Hospital for more comprehensive care. Fortunately, their conditions have been reported as stable, but the precise cause of their illnesses remains unclear. This incident marks the second occurrence of students falling ill in Kalaburagi district within the same month. On July 10, a similar situation arose when over 15 students from a hostel in Dandoti village reported symptoms such as vomiting and abdominal pain shortly after consuming their meals. These students were also admitted to a local hospital for treatment. In response to the earlier incident, officials took proactive measures by collecting water samples from the hostel and sending them for laboratory analysis. This testing aims to ascertain whether the food or drinking water was contaminated, which could have led to the students' illnesses. Additionally, health inspectors evaluated the food served at the hostel and scrutinized the overall hygiene and sanitation conditions to prevent further health risks.
