According to sources affiliated with the Houthi movement, multiple locations within Hodeidah were struck late on Friday night, indicating a focused effort to undermine Houthi military capabilities. Al-Masirah TV, which operates under Houthi control, reported that the airstrikes specifically targeted facilities linked to the telecommunications authority, further complicating the already dire humanitarian situation in the area. The strikes on Kamaran Island, a strategic location in the Red Sea, add to the growing list of military confrontations in the region.

The timing of these airstrikes coincides with the Houthis' recent declaration of a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia, which they announced following an attack on Sanaa International Airport that they attributed to Saudi forces. This blockade was described by Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree as a retaliatory measure, marking the end of a de-escalation phase that had been in place since an informal truce began in 2022. This truce, although never formally ratified, had provided a rare period of relative calm in the conflict that has raged since the Saudi-led coalition intervened in Yemen in 2015.
