Violence Erupts in West Bank as Four Palestinians Killed in Settler Attack

Eyewitness accounts suggest that approximately 25 to 30 Israeli settlers initiated the assault on the eastern section of Tal, attempting to breach two homes, prompting residents to confront them. The situation escalated rapidly, with settlers opening fire, resulting in a chaotic scene as the Israeli military intervened, reportedly firing alongside the settlers.

Local leader Essam Saifi, representing the Palestinian Fatah party in Tal, described the harrowing events in a phone interview, detailing how the settlers returned to attack the western part of the town shortly after their initial assault. This second wave of violence included the striking of a child with a weapon, further intensifying the panic among residents. The Israeli army later claimed that their troops were dispatched to the area in response to what they characterized as an attack on Israelis who were allegedly hiking in the vicinity. The military's narrative included an assertion that a Palestinian had stolen a weapon from local security personnel and fired at the settlers, a claim that adds to the complexity of the ongoing conflict.
