Internet Services Halted in Muzaffarpur Amid Student Protests and Violence

In Muzaffarpur, Bihar, internet services have been suspended for approximately two days due to escalating student protests in the area. This suspension commenced at noon on July 24 and is scheduled to last until 10 AM on July 26. According to reports from the Press Trust of India (PTI), Senior Superintendent of Police Kantesh Kumar Mishra emphasized that while students are entitled to express their dissent peacefully, any acts of vandalism or derogatory remarks directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the protests are intolerable. Mishra stated, "While student protests are a fundamental right and the police have been deployed to ensure their security, the destruction of public property and the use of abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Thursday's agitation are unacceptable. FIRs have been registered against the students allegedly involved in the violence." In response to the unrest, police have initiated legal proceedings against those students believed to be responsible for the disturbances. Furthermore, they have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for any individual who can provide information leading to the identification of those involved in the violent acts. The authorities assured that the identity of any informant would remain confidential, as stated by Mishra in his comments to PTI. The Muzaffarpur Police have heightened their alert status in light of the protests, deploying magistrates and additional police forces at key intersections throughout the city to deter any further incidents.
