A social media influencer from Nagaland has publicly acknowledged that his viral claim of sending 150 pizzas to students protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar was entirely fabricated. The influencer's assertion, which gained traction on social media, was accompanied by a screenshot of what appeared to be a Domino's bill totaling ₹67,734.18. Initially celebrated as a generous act of support for the protesting students, the influencer has since issued an apology, clarifying that the bill was not authentic and that his intention was to motivate others to contribute to the cause through acts of kindness. In a detailed Instagram Story, he expressed regret over the confusion caused by his post and accepted full responsibility for the ensuing backlash. He stated, "To everyone who has been affected by the recent controversy, I would like to offer a sincere clarification and apology. The pizza bill that I shared was not an actual bill. It was posted with the intention of encouraging people to support the students’ protest and to inspire acts of kindness. Looking back, I understand that presenting it in that way caused confusion and led many people to believe it was genuine. For that, I take full responsibility and sincerely apologise."
The influencer emphasized that he never intended to mislead anyone or create unnecessary controversy. He acknowledged that while he aimed to promote goodwill, he now realizes that good intentions do not excuse the dissemination of misleading information. He also addressed the donations that were solicited through a QR code shared alongside his post, asserting that the funds were always intended for the protesting students. He claimed that over ₹12,000 had been raised so far and mentioned that he had sent ₹25,000 through a friend to buy biscuits for the students, promising to provide proof of the transaction. The influencer reassured his followers that the remaining funds would be used transparently, with evidence of expenditures to be shared in due course.
