Raghav Chadha Addresses NEET Protests and Government Response

In a significant development just hours before the Rajya Sabha approved the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, BJP MP Raghav Chadha spoke out regarding the widespread protests surrounding the NEET paper leak. These protests, which have reverberated throughout the national capital and beyond, reflect the deep concerns of students across India. During his address in Parliament, Chadha expressed his conviction that the government has responded effectively to the grievances of the youth, stating, 'The government heard, the government actioned, and the government delivered.' His comments come in the wake of significant unrest, where hundreds of students rallied against the NEET paper leak, demanding accountability from former Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who ultimately resigned under pressure from the protests.

Chadha emphasized the importance of addressing the issue of paper leaks with a long-term solution, highlighting the dedication of students who invest countless hours preparing for their exams. He lamented the ease with which a paper leak can undermine their efforts, saying, '22 lakh children work hard for 18 hours every day for a 3-hour exam, but a camera phone, a message on WhatsApp, a PDF on Telegram at 2 am, and the paper is leaked—everything is over. All the students’ hard work is wasted.' He likened the problem of paper leaks to a serious illness that requires comprehensive treatment, asserting that mere media responses are insufficient. Instead, he pointed to the introduction of India’s first anti-paper leak framework as a vital step forward, which is encapsulated in the newly passed bill.
