Chitrakoot Incident: NEET Aspirant Alleges Gang Rape by Fake Forest Officers

A 19-year-old NEET aspirant's visit to the picturesque Devangana Valley in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, turned into a nightmare when she reported being gang-raped by three men posing as forest officials. The incident unfolded on a Wednesday afternoon, approximately 12 kilometers from the district headquarters, highlighting the vulnerabilities faced by visitors in remote areas. The victim, who hails from Satna district in Madhya Pradesh and is currently enrolled in coaching classes in Kota, Rajasthan, had traveled to Chitrakoot to see relatives. Accompanied by her 17-year-old friend, a local Class 12 student, they ventured into a secluded area of the valley on a motorcycle. Their outing took a dark turn when three unidentified men approached them on another motorcycle, falsely identifying themselves as personnel from the forest department.

As the situation escalated, the men resorted to violence. According to the victim's account, they attacked her friend with a belt to incapacitate him, subsequently binding his hands and feet with a towel. Left restrained and helpless, he was unable to assist her as the assailants dragged the young woman into the nearby bushes, where they subjected her to sexual assault. The couple found themselves in a remote location with poor mobile network coverage, which delayed their ability to seek help. After managing to free himself, the teenager made his way downhill until he regained mobile service and contacted emergency services. A police response team arrived promptly, transporting both victims to the hospital for medical attention. The boy was treated and released, while the young woman underwent a mandatory medical examination following the traumatic event.
