Over 2,500 Criminals Identified at Jantar Mantar During Protests

Recent reports indicate that the Delhi Police's Facial Recognition System (FRS), which was implemented at Jantar Mantar following the violent protests on July 20, has successfully identified over 2,500 individuals with criminal records during the protests that took place from July 21 to July 23. This initiative was part of an effort to enhance security measures after clashes erupted between demonstrators and law enforcement during a significant agitation led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The FRS was deployed to monitor the situation closely and to help identify those who may have posed a threat to public safety.

According to police officials, the FRS detected a substantial number of individuals with criminal backgrounds among the crowd, which raised concerns regarding the safety of security personnel and the general public. Reports suggest that some individuals within the protest were allegedly targeting police officers and engaging in violent acts using knives and other sharp objects. The police have been actively investigating the incidents that occurred during the protests, which were primarily fueled by accusations of significant irregularities in examination and recruitment processes in the education sector. The protests saw thousands of students demanding accountability and reforms, with a particular focus on the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to the NEET paper leak scandal.
