Hyderabad Trainee IPS Officer Arrested Over Stalking and Assault Allegations

A trainee officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) in Hyderabad has been taken into custody following serious allegations of sexual harassment made by a fellow female trainee. The accused, identified as Uday Krishna Reddy, was apprehended by the Attapur police and subsequently presented before a Magistrate, who ordered him to be held in judicial custody for 14 days at Chanchalguda Jail. The allegations stem from a complaint filed on July 18, which detailed incidents of harassment, assault, and blackmail against the officer by a woman who was his batchmate at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA). According to police sources, the case has been officially registered, and the officer has been charged with stalking and sexual harassment.

The allegations against Reddy, who is 32 years old, include a series of troubling behaviors that reportedly began on June 23. The complainant, a 30-year-old woman trainee, accused him of sending her sexually explicit messages via an instant messaging platform and making inappropriate comments about her in front of peers at the academy. She further claimed that he falsely accused her of being involved in a sexual relationship with another trainee, exerting pressure on her to confess to such a relationship while subjecting her to verbal abuse. The situation escalated on July 9 when she alleged that Reddy physically restrained her, forcibly brought her to his room, and threatened her with a knife, all while attempting to strangle her. In a particularly alarming claim, she accused him of recording a private video of her without consent and subsequently sending it to her husband in a bid to blackmail her.
