Raghav Chadha, a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, expressed his understanding of the frustration and anger that students are feeling due to the ongoing issues with exam paper leaks. On Thursday, he voiced his support for the government's Public Examinations (Amendment) Bill, 2026, stating that the emotions of the students are both justified and genuine. In a passionate message shared on social media, Chadha emphasized that the challenges posed by repeated paper leaks cannot be resolved with superficial solutions or mere rhetoric. Instead, he called for a comprehensive institutional response to effectively tackle the problem. He asserted, "Paper leak is not cured by soundbites. It needed a real institutional fix, and today we gave it one," highlighting his endorsement of the proposed legislation aimed at reforming the examination process.
The newly introduced bill aims to combat malpractice in public examinations by imposing stricter penalties on individuals involved in leaking question papers and establishing preventive measures to avert such occurrences in the future. This legislative initiative comes in response to a series of controversies, including the NEET exam incident, which sparked significant protests and discontent among students nationwide. Chadha directly addressed the students, acknowledging their distress and validating their grievances against the current system. He reassured them that their voices have been heard and that the government's actions are a step toward restoring trust and credibility in the examination framework. He stated, "Cancer is not cured by Crocin," underscoring the need for substantial reform, and reiterated his support for the Public Examination Amendment Bill 2026 as a genuine institutional solution to the persistent issue of paper leaks.
