Rakul Preet Singh Shares Journey to Acting at Rising Bharat Summit

At the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2027, Rakul Preet Singh opened up about her unexpected entry into the film industry, revealing that acting was never part of her initial career aspirations. The actress, who has become a well-known figure in both Kannada and Hindi cinema, shared that her first film opportunity came about quite serendipitously while she was still pursuing her college education. Rakul recounted how she was approached for a role shortly after getting her photographs taken, with a film team expressing interest in casting her. At the time, she was focused on her studies in mathematics and felt uncertain about stepping into the world of acting. However, the allure of a substantial paycheck played a pivotal role in her decision to accept the offer.

Rakul candidly admitted that the primary motivation for taking on her debut film was the Rs 5 lakh salary, which she envisioned using to purchase her first car. She humorously reflected on her youthful desire to impress her friends, stating, "I thought I would look so cool and that’s why I said yes to the film." Despite her initial hesitations, the experience of filming for 40 days transformed her outlook on acting. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for being in front of the camera, prompting her to complete her degree before fully committing to an acting career. This decision resulted in a brief hiatus before she made her official debut in 2013.
