The conclusion came after a thorough inquest by UK authorities, which determined that a lethal combination of alcohol and various drugs led to his fatal cardiac arrest. The 29-year-old prince, a member of the prominent House of Saud, was found unresponsive in his suite at the London Marriott Hotel Kensington on November 25, 2025, after hotel staff entered the locked room and called for emergency assistance. Despite the swift response from paramedics, they were unable to revive him. The coroner, Jean Harkin, recorded a verdict of "death by misadventure," a term used when an individual dies accidentally while engaging in risky behavior. The inquest found no indications of suicide, foul play, or any involvement from third parties. CCTV footage reviewed during the investigation revealed that the prince had returned to the hotel alone after stepping outside for a cigarette shortly before his death.
During the inquest, medical evidence indicated that Prince Abdullah experienced cardiac arrest due to the consumption of alcohol mixed with GHB, a substance often associated with recreational use, along with several prescription and recreational drugs. Toxicology reports indicated that his blood alcohol concentration was measured at 222 mg per 100 ml, which is nearly three times the legal limit for driving in England. Medical professionals testified that such a high level of alcohol could lead to a coma. Investigators also found toxic levels of GHB in his system, as well as cannabis and a recreational amount of Xanax, alongside therapeutic levels of other anti-anxiety medications. The post-mortem examination did not reveal any underlying health issues that could have contributed to the cardiac arrest, leading specialists to conclude that the combined depressant effects of the substances were the cause of his heart stopping.
