Uttar Pradesh Approves Major Expressway Projects to Enhance Connectivity

The state of Uttar Pradesh is poised for a significant transformation in its road infrastructure following the recent approval of four major expressway projects by the state Cabinet, with a total investment exceeding Rs 47,000 crore. This ambitious initiative aims to drastically reduce travel times, enhance freight transportation, and strengthen connections between the eastern and western regions of the state. Furthermore, it is expected to unlock new opportunities for various sectors, including industry, logistics, and real estate, thereby fostering economic growth across the region.

The Cabinet meeting, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, sanctioned the development of the Vindhya Expressway, the Vindhya-Purvanchal Spur Link, the Agra-Lucknow-Purvanchal Link Expressway, and the Agra-Lucknow-Ganga Link Expressway. Collectively, these projects are designed to create a cohesive expressway network that will facilitate smoother travel across major highways in Uttar Pradesh, connecting the Delhi region to the Bihar border. The Vindhya Expressway, in particular, is a six-lane access-controlled greenfield corridor stretching 333 kilometers, with plans for future expansion to eight lanes. It will commence at Sonwar Tehsil in Prayagraj, where it will link with the Ganga Expressway, and will traverse through Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Varanasi, and Chandauli, ultimately reaching National Highway-39 in Sonbhadra.
