Karnataka Minister MB Patil Emphasizes Global Competition at Rising Bharat Summit

At the Rising Bharat Summit, Karnataka's Industries and Infrastructure Minister, MB Patil, articulated the state's strategic approach to attracting global investments, emphasizing that Karnataka's competition lies not with other Indian states but with international investment hubs. During his address at the News18 event, Patil underscored the state's commitment to enhancing its manufacturing capabilities, semiconductor production, and overall business environment to position Karnataka as a premier destination for foreign investors. He stated, "We are not countering any states; we compete globally," highlighting the state's focus on securing high-quality investments from around the world.

Patil elaborated on the government's proactive measures to ensure that signed investment memoranda of understanding (MoUs) translate into tangible projects. He mentioned that the state has signed agreements worth over Rs 10 lakh crore, with approximately Rs 5 lakh crore already realized in investments. This review process aims to identify which projects are actively progressing and which remain stagnant. Additionally, he revealed that Karnataka is in talks with companies involved in the Centre's Semiconductor Mission 2, with plans to establish a semiconductor park near Bengaluru airport, further solidifying the state's position in this critical industry. He emphasized the importance of translating design work conducted in Karnataka into local manufacturing, stating, "When you design here, it should translate into manufacturing later."
