IIT Graduate Transitions from Dubai Job to Indian Army, Now Pursues IIM MBA

In a world where many engineering graduates aspire to secure lucrative positions after graduating from prestigious institutions, Capt. Amar Simha Yadav has taken a path less traveled. After completing his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Mandi in 2017, Yadav embarked on a corporate journey with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in Dubai, where he held the position of Senior Engineer. His role involved significant contributions to major infrastructure projects, and he appeared to be on a trajectory toward a successful corporate career. Despite the attractive salary and the international experience, Yadav felt an emptiness that prompted him to seek a more fulfilling vocation.

In 2019, he made the bold decision to leave his corporate job and enlist in the Indian Army, where he began his service as a Combat Engineer Officer. Over the course of more than six years, he advanced to the rank of Captain, leading an Engineer Task Force comprising over 120 soldiers and more than 200 civilian workers. His responsibilities included vital tasks such as road construction, habitat development, snow clearance, and establishing water points in challenging high-altitude border regions and counter-insurgency areas. As a Company Commander, Yadav was instrumental in training over 100 soldiers, managing logistics, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the welfare of his troops. Additionally, he served as Adjutant, overseeing the administration and discipline of more than 700 personnel. His expertise also extended beyond military operations, as he trained Assam Police Commandos in critical areas such as mine handling and bomb disposal, while coordinating significant defense infrastructure projects worth over Rs 500 crore along the Kerala coast.
