At the Rising Bharat Summit held on Friday, Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar emphasized the importance of actively shaping history rather than simply recounting it. During a session titled 'The Southern Growth Engine: Policy, Enterprise & Progress,' he articulated his vision for the future of Karnataka and the significant role South India plays in the broader context of national development. Shivakumar's remarks highlighted his commitment to governance, innovation, and the ambition to position Karnataka as a leader in India's economic landscape.
In his address, Shivakumar proclaimed that Karnataka stands as a premier talent hub, boasting an impressive network of educational institutions. He noted that the state is home to 250 engineering colleges, producing over 100,000 engineering and medical professionals annually. He asserted that no other Indian state can rival Karnataka's skilled workforce, which he believes is crucial for driving the state's economic growth. Furthermore, he pointed out that Bengaluru, the state's capital, is recognized as the top destination for quality education in India, with 36 percent of the country's international schools located in the city. This educational ecosystem, according to Shivakumar, is a vital component of Karnataka's strategy to attract industries and investments.
