Rahul Gandhi Accuses Government of Deceit Over Pellet Gun Use in Student Protests

On Friday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition, launched a fierce critique against the Union Government, accusing it of dishonesty regarding the use of pellet guns during protests by students over the alleged NEET paper leak. During a press conference, he was accompanied by a student who sustained injuries during the demonstration. Gandhi described the student’s condition, asserting that he was struck by pellet gun fire while participating in a peaceful rally, proudly displaying the national flag. "The government claims that no pellet guns were deployed. This is the reality of a pellet gun injury. Look at his eye; it has been severely damaged," Gandhi stated, highlighting the student's plight. He emphasized that the student was merely exercising his right to protest peacefully when he was harmed, stating, "Pellet guns were unleashed. Students were assaulted while they were demonstrating peacefully. He was holding the Tricolour when he was injured. One of his eyes is unable to open, and he has lost vision in that eye," he alleged.

Gandhi intensified his criticism of the government, specifically targeting Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, whom he labeled as a "criminal Education Minister." He accused the government of misleading the public regarding the events that transpired during the protests. "The government is lying," he asserted, linking the police's alleged violent actions to the larger issue surrounding the NEET paper leak scandal. He pointed out that countless students have been adversely affected by the alleged irregularities associated with the examination. "Their exam papers were compromised. Many dedicated years to prepare, while those who purchased the leaked papers advanced unfairly. Millions of students have been deprived of their rightful opportunities," he remarked, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
