Aarush Nitture emerged victorious in the Men's Singles 19+ Advanced category at the Grand Prix Mumbai, held at The Ballard Pier, by decisively defeating Varun Mittal with a score of 11-2 in the final match. Nitture's performance throughout the tournament was nothing short of impressive, as he dominated his pool without losing a single match. His journey to the final included a commanding victory over Satya Narayan, where he won 11-1, and a subsequent win against Aabhaas Mehta, finishing that match at 11-2. The Round of 16 saw Nitture achieve a flawless victory, blanking Rohin Premchandani 11-0, a feat he replicated in the quarter-finals against Vaibhav Maurya. The semi-final was slightly more challenging, but he still managed to secure a win against Kartik Juneja with a score of 11-3, marking the closest contest he faced throughout the tournament.
Varun Mittal, who also showcased remarkable skill on his way to the final, had a strong campaign, winning all his matches with relative ease. His semi-final match against Aabhaas Mehta ended with an 11-5 victory, setting the stage for a promising showdown against Nitture. However, the final proved to be a different challenge altogether. Nitture displayed superior sharpness and strategy, effectively neutralizing Mittal's attempts to establish a rhythm, ultimately sealing the match at 11-2. The Grand Prix Mumbai featured a total of eight divisions, encompassing both Open and 19+ Advanced categories for men and women, with competitions in singles and doubles formats. Each division was structured in a round-robin format during the pool stage, leading into knockout rounds, ensuring a comprehensive competitive experience for all participants.
