Finance Minister's Comments on NEET Leak Spark Outrage from Opposition

In a recent statement, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman suggested that some students may have benefited from the NEET paper leak, igniting a wave of criticism from opposition parties and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Sitharaman's comments, made during a protest organized by the CJP, implied that certain students used the leak as an opportunity to enhance their preparation and improve their performance in the examination. She stated, "There are young people who are coming out and saying yes, first it sort of hurt me when the paper leakages happened but later I took advantage of that and prepared even more and my performance has improved and I've done well." This perspective has been met with outrage, as many believe it trivializes the serious implications of the leak and suggests a justification for such incidents rather than a condemnation.

The backlash was swift and fierce, with CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka taking to social media to express his discontent, stating, "By this logic, every paper in this country should get leaked." This sentiment was echoed by TMC MP Mahua Moitra, who questioned Sitharaman's rationale by asking, "Did @nsitharaman just say 'Due to the paper leak, the children got even more time to study so that they could perform better'? Honestly, this entire Cabinet should resign." Shiv Sena UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also criticized the remarks, sarcastically advising students to stop protesting and instead learn how to benefit from reexaminations due to leaked papers. These reactions highlight the growing frustration among students and political figures regarding the government's handling of the NEET irregularities and the perceived lack of accountability.
