Skyroot Aerospace's Vision: Bigger Rockets and Space Data Centers Ahead

Skyroot Aerospace is gearing up for significant advancements as it prepares for its upcoming rocket launch later this year, alongside a series of ambitious missions in the pipeline. During his address at the Network18 Rising Bharat Summit held in Bengaluru, co-founder Pawan Chandana elaborated on the company's strategic direction and the hurdles faced in the rocket development process. He emphasized the importance of a methodical approach to scaling their operations, rather than hastily diving into complex technologies such as reusable launch systems. Chandana stated, 'The next launch will happen this year. Next year, we will have bigger rockets. It will be a few years before we can launch reusable rockets,' indicating a clear vision for the company's growth trajectory.

In addition to discussing the immediate future, Chandana shared an intriguing anecdote from Skyroot’s inaugural launch. Despite extensive preparations, a last-minute technical issue nearly delayed the launch. However, the resolution turned out to be unexpectedly straightforward. 'Like in India, if something doesn’t work, what we do is switch off, switch on. We just did that,' he recounted, highlighting the quick thinking that allowed them to proceed without significant setbacks. He also pointed out the exclusivity of the private rocket launch industry, noting, 'There are only two private sector companies that have launched rockets in the world,' which underscores the formidable challenges and high entry barriers that new players face in this competitive field.
