Delhi Metro Closes 18 Stations Amid Ongoing Protests on July 25

On Saturday, July 25, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that 18 metro stations in central Delhi will remain closed for the fourth consecutive day due to security concerns stemming from the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests near Jantar Mantar. The closures will begin at 7:30 am and will remain in effect until further notice. However, the DMRC confirmed that interchange facilities will still be operational at key stations including Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat, allowing passengers to switch lines without exiting the stations. The affected stations include Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, Jhandewalan, and New Delhi.

In light of these closures, the DMRC has urged commuters to plan their travel accordingly and has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused. The restrictions are expected to disrupt the daily routines of many, particularly office workers, students, and legal professionals who rely heavily on the metro for transportation. Additionally, the Airport Express Line will also face operational limitations, with services only running between Dhaula Kuan and Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25, which will impact access to New Delhi and Indira Gandhi International Airport. This announcement follows a week of similar disruptions, where multiple stations were closed for three days, leading to significant travel challenges for many individuals.
