Trump Acknowledges Iran's Desire for Deal Amid Ongoing Tensions

On Friday, US President Donald Trump expressed his belief that Iran is eager to negotiate with the United States in order to resolve the escalating tensions in West Asia. However, he also indicated that the Iranian leadership may not be fully prepared to engage in meaningful discussions at this time. During his remarks at the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, Trump emphasized that his administration remains committed to preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. He dismissed critical media narratives regarding the situation, asserting that the US is managing the Iran issue effectively. "It's all going extremely well. Don't believe the fake news," Trump stated, reinforcing his administration's stance on the matter.

Trump went on to highlight the impact of US military actions on Iran's military capabilities, claiming that they have been significantly weakened. He stated, "We have hit Iran very hard. Their Navy is gone; its Air Force is gone. 250 jets no longer, 159 boats, good boats," emphasizing the extent of the damage inflicted on Iranian military assets. According to Trump, many of these vessels are now at the bottom of the sea, and he suggested that Iran's ability to conduct military operations has been severely compromised. He noted, "They have no radar. They have very few drones left, despite what you see. And every once in a while they are going to set something up," indicating that while Iran may still attempt to project military power, their capabilities are greatly diminished.
